Verbal Communication

An interactive tool to guide healthcare students in interdisciplinary, patient-centered interviewing with older adults over a variety of scenarios. Included in each module are history taking tips for effective communication, a physical assessment, screening tools, differential diagnosis, diagnostic testing, and treatment activity. For each condition identified, a sample interview dialogue is shown between the patient and physician, and includes rationale for the questions asked as they relate to the pathology. Communication with family members of the patient is also expressed. The module concludes with solidification of knowledge through a quiz and a certificate is issued upon completion.
